Ben Glass in Fairfax, VA discusses a premises liability case in Roanoke where the state Supreme Court ruled that the owner of a hotel had a dute to protect its guests from third-party violence.

The case had previously been dismissed in a lower court. However, as Ben points out, hotel employees had called the police 96 times in the three years prior to the incident.

As a result of these repeated incidents, the hotel had been advised by policy that "its guests were at a specific eminent risk for harm to their persons from uninvited persons coming into or upon its property."
