A comment on Anesthesia Error - a Deadly Form of Malpractice

Many anesthesia groups have exclusive contracts which EXCLUDE more qualified anesthesiologists, those with specialized training, from anesthetizing certain high risk patients. Those would include pediatric, pain, obstetric, cardiac, and other patients. Additionally, there are many (if not most) practices which direct the care of patients that those specialists can provide. The voracity with which these contracts are protected and the controls on specialists leads to death and disability of countless patients around the country every day. I know this, because I am an anesthesiology specialist, and I have experienced this firsthand. It is my hope that patients who are injured by these greedy groups and have been denied specialty care by hospitals, surgery centers, and other institutions make those groups and institutions pay until this practice is stopped.
