Those would include pediatric, pain, obstetric, cardiac, and other patients. Additionally, there are many (if not most) practices which direct the care of patients that those specialists can provide. The voracity with which these contracts are protected and the controls on specialists leads to death and disability of countless patients around the country every day. I know this, because I am an anesthesiology specialist, and I have experienced this firsthand.
